Las Vegas

Las Vegas

I was in Vegas on business for a trade show and needed to kill some time in the evenings.  I have been to Vegas enough that I honestly wasn’t looking forward to walking around “the strip” as it is all basically the same.  Until I ran across the Linq and the High Roller area.  This place was very well done and since it was so new to me, it was exciting to see.  The High Roller was well worth the price of admission, especially at...

Hoboken, NJ

Hoboken, NJ

My hotel was just north of Hoboken, strategically placed for two reasons: 1) The ferry to take me across the river to NYC and 2) easy walking distance of Carlo’s Bakery.  After watching enough episodes of Cake Boss and hearing all the reviews of how good things taste, why not give it a try.  What I saw of Hoboken, it was a very pretty city.  It has a small town main street look and feel all under the shadow of a major metropolitan city.  The water front was gorgeous and had equally impressive views of NYC.  If you are in the area,...

9/11 Memorial

I was in New York for a convention and spent the off time walking around.  By walking around, I mean all over the place.  I probably walked about 18 miles the whole time I was there (some of that includes time walking at the convention).  On the second day, I headed down to the 9/11 Memorial site.  I had been to New York about 5 years ago while things were still heavily under construction, so it was nice to see things completed.  For those that haven’t been, it is a must see destination.  Even if you come to New York for no other...

New York City

Once the convention was done for the day, I decided to walk around New York City a little bit.  I didn’t take as many pictures as I normally would have as it was cold and still rainy.  I walked mainly the touristy areas, 34th Street, Bryant Park, Times Square, Rockefeller Center,...

Toronto

This year has been one of international travel for me.  Spain back in June and Canada this month.  Though how much is Canada really international?  Hehe, couldn’t resist, though honestly, it didn’t feel very international.  This is the second time I’ve been to Canada, the first about 15 years ago to Vancouver.  That was a beautiful city, at least what I saw when it wasn’t raining.  I stayed in downtown at the Strathcona Hotel, which was priced decently and well within walking distance of many things worth seeing along...
