The pier in Kure Beach has a long history, all the way back to around 1923. Apparently in 1924 is failed and had to be rebuilt, this time it was twice as long and much about 50% wider. That wasn’t the only time it had to be rebuilt. Hurricanes took their toll on the pier, but they kept rebuilding. While we were there, the pier was always busy, they had bands playing some nights, and plenty of fishing. If anyone knows what the big white tank all the way out at the end is, I’d love to know. Sadly I never asked.
